Don’t judge a book by the title

The House of the Seven Gables is not a very exciting title for a novel.  My immediate response was so what.  Hence I was under the impression that it would be a boring novel.  However, I’m planning a day trip to Salem Massachusetts soon and the house that Hawthorne based the book on is in Salem.  So I thought I might as well get this book read and mark it off the list.  I wasn’t looking forward to the novel at all.  In fact I thought it would be a chore.

So I am happy to announce that I’m actually enjoying the book.  It isn’t a thriller like The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.  But it has piqued my curiosity and I am getting drawn into the characters and what will happen.  The story seems promising to me.  I want to know why Hepzibah is always frowning.  Who is Phoebe? And what will happen when the brother returns?  Back to my reading.  So long for now.
