Feeling Friendly

I have lived in Massachusetts for five years and I have never been to a Friendly’s.  This chain started in Springfield, Massachusetts in 1935.   I see commercials for the place several times a week and I’ve always meant to pop into one.  Why?  The ice cream sundaes look amazing.

Also, everyone once in a while I crave a burger.  Yesterday I was running errands and there was a Friendly’s on my route.  I decided that it was the day to give it a go.

I started my meal with a chocolate Fribble, which is a super-thick, soft-serve shake.  Then I moved onto a BBQ Fronion Burger with fries.

After tackling this burger I thought I was done and my stomach was full but then the waitress Rosemary said I had an ice cream dessert coming.  How could I turn it down?  She suggested a simple vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup sundae with whipped cream and a cherry.

Yes it was simple and delicious.

Today when I woke up I felt a little guilty so I went for a long walk around Brookline Reservoir.

It was a beautiful way to start the day, but I think I’ll have to do twenty more laps to burn off my Friendly’s meal from the day before.  But you only live once.
