One of my buddies at work is a huge movie buff.  He lives and breathes movies.  Often we will debate which movies are the best and such.  Last week he informed me that the movie Once had made his top ten list.  Intrigued I asked him what the movie was since I had never heard it.  He said that it was an Irish musical.  This piece of news baffled me.  Take a look at his top ten movies and see if you can understand why this surprised me.

Now his number one film is Terminator 2.  That is why I was surprised.  By the way, another friend at work disagreed with the list and made the adjustment.  He is a Star Wars fanatic.

I decided to check out the film.  The story line is pretty simple. A struggling musician who works at a Hoover repair shop during the day and sings on the streets at night and on his breaks meets a young woman who loves playing the piano.  She is impressed with his songwriting.  They become friends and with her help, he cuts a demo and decides to head to London to pursue a music career.  There’s more to the story of course, but I don’t want to ruin it.  The charm about this film is that the premise of the story is how some chances only happen once and its best not to miss a great opportunity that is right in front of you.  Seize the day and don’t live with regrets.  This thought is one of the reasons I started this challenge.  I don’t want to miss out on opportunities and I want to live life to the fullest.
