After reading I, Robot and watching Blade Runner I am taking a break from science fiction. The next novel on the list that I plan on tackling is Memoirs of a Geisha, written by Arthur Golden, an American author. The story is fictional, however Golden interviewed a retired geisha named Mineko Iwaski and several others. Golden listed Mineko Iwaski as one of his sources, which infuriated her since there is a code of silence for former geishas and she thought her identity would not be revealed. She actually received death threats. All of this makes me quite curious about the novel. What incidents and people does the book reveal that warranted death threats? I’m about to find out.
