A Hearty Thanks

Several weeks ago, Carl and I chatted about different types of beer.  I love to try new things so I asked him for suggestions.  He mentioned that one of his favorites was a black and tan with Fat Tire and Guinness.  I chuckled to myself.  I lived in Fort Collins, Colorado for many years and this is the home of the New Belgium Brewing Company, the makers of Fat Tire.  Yet I hadn’t tried this concoction.  I didn’t beat myself up though since I had a card up my sleeve.  Fat Tire is not distributed in Boston.  But I had a connection.  My better half was heading to Colorado soon and so I made a request.  Please bring back one Fat Tire so I could sample Carl’s brew.

I was surprised by 3 Fat Tires and several other beers that I hadn’t tried before.  I looked online for a black and tan recipe.  It’s pretty easy.

1.  Fill your glass half full with Fat Tire.

2.  Pour the Guinness over a spoon slowly into the glass

3. Cheers

Thanks Carl for the tip!  It was delicious.

And since it was the day before the official start of summer, we had some summer sausage with our beers.

Beer, sausage, deck weather…Happy Summer!

WTF?? You hadn’t ever tried Fat Tire? How is that possible? Didn’t you do the New Belgium tour with Synia, Taush, Jamie, and I?

  2. Meredith says:

Oh, duh..never mind. I misunderstood and replied before reading your entire post. LOL. Duh. You meant the guiness fat tire combo.

It is currently 88 degrees here, that beer looks very refreshing and very filling. Do you think I could get away with giving my husband one and calling it dinner? =P
