R.I.P. VI Challenge

Welcome to September.  As a new follower of Carl’s Stainless Steel Droppings I am excited for this fall.  For months I have been hearing from other followers that R.I.P. is a ton of fun. And according to Carl, fall is starting today since he is kicking off his sixth annual R.eaders I.mbibing P.eril (R.I.P) Challenge.  It runs from September 1st –October 31st.  You can read mysteries, suspense, thrillers, dark fantasies, gothic, horror, and supernatural novels or short stories.  There are different levels to the challenge, including watching shows or movies.   There is a little something for everyone.  Also, Carl has added some group reads to the challenge this year.  I’m hoping to join at least one of the group reads.

I have a busy fall so I have not decided which level I will attempt or which books I will read yet.  But I am excited to participate.  Currently I am reading the gothic novel, The Mysteries of Udolpho, by Ann Radcliffe.  So I know I will complete at least one novel for the event.  Please check out his challenge and I hope many of you will be able to join us.

As I mentioned on my site I am so glad you are going to be able to participate in some way, even though you have the big move right in the middle of the event. Great that you’ve been reading some gothic classics so you can post about those. Hopefully you and your buddy read person will also post about Dracula sometime during the challenge and you can count that too as I imagine it will generate some nice conversation.

I am forever thrilled with the popularity of this challenge, not for me personally but because I love meeting all these kindred spirits, folks who like to revel in autumn temps with good books to read with the lights off. I’ve met so many wonderful people because of challenges which is the reason I keep on hosting these few ones year after year despite the waning popularity of challenges.

Hope you can manage to squeeze in Butcher with us.

This event is so popular. I am really looking forward to meeting people and to discuss one of my favorite things: Books! I haven’t heard from my buddy so I may end up posting my Dracula review soon since I’m dying to talk about it. I loved it!!!!!!!! And I know you will have some great insights into the book. So keep an eye out for that one. Can’t wait to discuss it with you and others.

I will do my best with Butcher. I may buy it before my flight to London. I bet I can get a chunk done on the plane. But I may be too excited to read. We’ll see.

Thanks for hosting this event. Let the fun begin!

Isn’t this a fun challenge? I’ve been waiting all year to crack open all scary titles on my shelf.

I just posted as well. Wanted to wait until tomorrow but then again… Ann Radcliffe is certainly a fine choice.
