Ever since I read Mark Twain I’ve been fascinated with the Mississippi River. Over a year ago, I finally saw the river in person when I visited New Orleans. The river did not disappoint me and now I want to read his work, Life on the Mississippi.

I spent much of my childhood in Minnesota towns along the Mississippi River. It has such a rhythm and heartbeat. We would boat and waterski on the river. We even camped on the sandbars on the river. Lovely, happy times. Have you been up to Itasca, MN to walk across the source of the River?
Those sound like wonderful childhood memories and I’m completely jealous. And I love how you said that it has a rhythm and heartbeat–it really does. I haven’t been there, but I would love to at some point. I’ll have to add it to my list 🙂
:-). If you go I would love to hear your impressions of it!!
Or course I’ll share!
I love the sun sparkling on the water.
Thanks Carol…if I remember correctly I took this photo early in the day.
fantastic shot TBM!!!!!
Thanks Xandi!
Very gorgeous and inspirational:)
Thanks T.F! It was a wonderful moment to see it!
It’s an amazing river…I grew up in Memphis…we have two bridges like that over it that connects Tennessee to Arkansas. Great shot.
I was fascinated by how large the river is and yet it seems so peaceful.
Having grown up on the water, I look at this photo and immediately feel a sense of calm!! Beautiful shot, especially the sun sparkling on the water.
It was calming to sit down by the water and watch it slowly flow by…I’m sure the current is a lot stronger than it seems.
Hi! I also visited New Orleans November of last year, but for some reason, I wasn’t able to take as lovely a photo as you did of the Mississippi river! This is gorgeous. 🙂
Thanks Myra! I hope you loved New Orleans as much as I did.
A beautiful clear day help capture a great photo! Very nice!
The weather did help. The two days previously were overcast and cold.
