Travel Photo of the Day (Jan. 25)

Yesterday when I posted a photo that was taken at the entrance of  the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park in Botswana, Gilly was surprised to see water since this area is a salt pan in the middle of a dry savanna. Once you cross the water you will see that the inside of the park is extremely dry.  We didn’t see a lot of animals in this park, but the landscape was beautiful.  This is one of the photos I took that afternoon.

Thanks for this photo, it was interesting because I’d always had an idea in my head about how it would look and it’s good to realise there is always more to it. You really did have some amazing experiences there!

I didn’t know what to expect when I went and even if I did have expectations they still would have been blown out of the water. It was a wonderful experience!

It’s interesting to see seemingly lush green leaves in such a dry area.

Barren and desolate yet so cool. I love viewing a shot like this while it’s snowing outside here in Canada! Thank you.

This photo was taken during their winter in Botswana. It was very cold at night, but during the day it was decent and I only had to wear a long sleeve shirt and pants. At night, I had on many layers…such a difference.

The branch on the left in the foreground looks like a dog that is head down digging a very deep hole’
