This week’s photo challenge features the sun and how it can transform a photograph. Here is a photo that I took in Zambia. Since I was in Africa I wasn’t looking at the photos I took to save battery life. I was out in the bush for two weeks and didn’t have a lot of opportunities to charge batteries and checking a digital camera to see if a picture turns out uses up the battery. Hence I ended up with a lot of blurry photos. And now this one has a purpose.

Just wondering – was it one huge Africa trip or many small..? It’s on my todo list for the 2020’s I think… 🙂
We spent three weeks there and visited Zambia, Botswana, and South Africa. In South Africa we attended two World Cup matches. I can’t wait to go back. I would love to go for months at a time, but due to work and such we can only take off for 2-3 weeks. Where are you planning on going?
Oh, have no idea yet. It’s just the only continent I’ve never been to. And some of the greener spots in Africa look so beautiful.
So one day.. !
I hope you go…the planning is half of the fun!
Yes, the African sun can blow out photos terribly. Pleased you found a use for it.
It is bright there and it wasn’t hot, but we were there during the winter.
oh the small elephant – more amusing than the sunlight …
He’s a cutie…I loved how he just followed along.
Very cool!
Thanks Stephen!
The sun issues don’t matter because I just love the little baby elephant!! He’s soooo cute. 🙂
I loved him…I’m a sucker for baby animals.
Me too 🙂
How could you not be.
The photo has a flavor of antiquity, I think.
Thanks Valentina!
Looks like a cool excursion!
It was fun!
Beautiful baby elephant, love this photo.
Thanks! He is a cutie.
Great entry. I love the little one following along, too. Ever since the Distorted challenge, I saw the significance of keeping all my photos, at least for a long while. Thanks for sharing.
I have a hard time deleting photos since even the bad ones are memories.
awesome picture and subjects. 🙂
Thanks Imelda!
But it’s still an awesome picture. I actually like the sun’s effect on it.
Thanks Carol…it adds a softness to it.
There you go – fun in the sun! 😉
Yes!
Baby elephants have got to be the cutest thing ever! I would have one – but then look what happens. They grow up – and an elephant is not just for Christmas.
I enjoyed your picture. Thanks
Meant to ask – is your banner along the top a photo you did??
Lynn 😀
Whoops – a photo that you took! Doh!!!!!
Lynn:D
Hi Lynn…yep the banner photo is from my collection. It was an amazing experience. This photo was taken during a pit stop on a safari at sunset. We were having snacks and wine watching this incredible sunset.
I took the photo of the baby in 2010. I wonder how big he is now.
You have a lot of excellent photos but I think this is my favourite – so far!
Thanks Gilly!
Sometimes when I look at your photos I wish I could go back once more but I doubt it!
I would love to go back as well! I hope you do.
i like the blur…it suggests the impossible heat there
Maybe it proves we shouldn’t be too hasty to judge a photo’s quality.
Your shot turned out great. I love that little baby elephant trying to keep up with Momma.
He did a great job keeping up. The baby was actually an orphan that these elephants adopted. All of them helped take care of him.
thanks for sharing your adventure. your header image fits the challenge as well 🙂
I didn’t even think of that…thanks!
Oh Wow! An elephant ride, that should be on my bucket list!
I enjoyed it!
Cool photo!! That baby elephant is really the focus of these entourage 😉
He was the first elephant that I noticed.
glad you did not delete it!
Me too!
I so love learning about these photo challenges through you, since we are such rookies when it comes to photo-blogs. This is a beautiful interpretation of ‘sun’ indeed. Your time in Africa sounds glorious.
I’m glad you’ve been liking the photo challenges Myra. I love seeing your interpretations. That is one of the best parts about blogging…seeing the world via other people. Africa was simply amazing.
Nice shot! Nevermind the blur, it actually added intensity of heat in the photograph. The elephants are so cute, especially the small one!
Elephants are wonderful animals. Thanks Nelson!
Awwww…the baby elephant is so adorable….my eye went right to it! The little guy makes the photo.
Thanks Fergiemoto…he is a wonderful creature!
