Travel Photo of the Day (May 10)

I was fortunate enough to see a few lions while in Botswana.  And each time I was struck by their beauty and sincerity.  They looked so sweet.  Sometimes I would forget just how dangerous they could be.  If you look closely at this photo, you will see blood on her leg. My guess is that it isn’t her blood.

She scratched herself on a prickly pear! Or, she was biting her nails and got carried away!
Lol. Better not to get too close though just in case!
    Lynn 😀

  2. Don’t they just look like big, cuddly cats. I always wanted a lion as a pet!!!

    • TBM says:

They do look cuddly. I always wanted a monkey as a pet. However, I think both are better off in their own world…but it is a nice thought.

    Someone’s just had dinner 🙂

  4. Aren’t the females the hunters? Looks like she may have been successful.

    • TBM says:

I have heard that the females do a lot of the hunting and the males protect the territory. It is an odd feeling because I cheer for the lion’s survival and for the prey. Watching animals shows are so fascinating and difficult for me.

Looks still young, maybe she had a scratch with her brothers and sisters? Don’t think so, meal she had was lovely she didn’t have time to clean herself.

She looks pretty young… so cute.

    • TBM says:

I think she was young…by now she, hopefully, is a healthy adult and creating more wonderful lions for others to see.

    Such a cute baby lion.

  14. Maybe she was just playing with it. . . . . my sister in law raises the orphan babies in Africa. Very cool!

  15. Stunning picture, your description describes it perfectly. I didn’t see the blood at first, looks can deceive 🙂

  16. Robyn says:

    Such a beautiful animal!

  17. Jackie Cangro says:

She is just magnificent. I remember reading somewhere that the female rather than the male lions are the hunters of the group.

  18. Fergiemoto says:

She probably just made a kill. I also learned that the females do the hunting. Great shot – she’s a beauty.

  19. Myra GB says:

Very beautiful. This one looks solemn and very earnest. 🙂
