I was fortunate enough to see a few lions while in Botswana. And each time I was struck by their beauty and sincerity. They looked so sweet. Sometimes I would forget just how dangerous they could be. If you look closely at this photo, you will see blood on her leg. My guess is that it isn’t her blood.

She scratched herself on a prickly pear! Or, she was biting her nails and got carried away!
Lol. Better not to get too close though just in case!
Lynn 😀
I would love to see a nervous lion who is a nail biter…but I won’t ever make fun of one.
Don’t they just look like big, cuddly cats. I always wanted a lion as a pet!!!
They do look cuddly. I always wanted a monkey as a pet. However, I think both are better off in their own world…but it is a nice thought.
Someone’s just had dinner 🙂
Yep. That is my thought exactly.
Aren’t the females the hunters? Looks like she may have been successful.
I have heard that the females do a lot of the hunting and the males protect the territory. It is an odd feeling because I cheer for the lion’s survival and for the prey. Watching animals shows are so fascinating and difficult for me.
She’s beautiful. My guess is you’re probably right about the blood!
She is gorgeous, even if she is a killer.
But she is so lovely so lovely… ah my big cats… Thank you dear TBM, wonderful shot, with my love, nia
I thought you might like it Nia 🙂
yes, yes, yes… Thank you, Love, nia
Do you like all cats, including leopards?
She does look sweet … well fed, too. 🙂
Unfortunately for the animal who provided her dinner.
i don`t like them. and i wonder why,. doesn`t they scary?
They can be scary but beautiful to view from afar.
Looks still young, maybe she had a scratch with her brothers and sisters? Don’t think so, meal she had was lovely she didn’t have time to clean herself.
Well I can be a messy eater sometimes so I can’t judge.
She does look sweet and innocent doesn’t she. She’s gorgeous! 🙂
Deceptively so…just looking at her you wouldn’t think of her as a predator.
She looks pretty young… so cute.
I think she was young…by now she, hopefully, is a healthy adult and creating more wonderful lions for others to see.
Adorable!!! 🙂 **
She does seem so 🙂
Such a cute baby lion.
She is adorable.
Maybe she was just playing with it. . . . . my sister in law raises the orphan babies in Africa. Very cool!
That is really cool! What a great contribution.
Stunning picture, your description describes it perfectly. I didn’t see the blood at first, looks can deceive 🙂
Very much so…our guide actually pointed out the blood and it really made me think.
Such a beautiful animal!
I agree Robyn!
She is just magnificent. I remember reading somewhere that the female rather than the male lions are the hunters of the group.
I think you right…the females hunt. She is a beauty.
She probably just made a kill. I also learned that the females do the hunting. Great shot – she’s a beauty.
Thanks Fergiemoto!
Very beautiful. This one looks solemn and very earnest. 🙂
Thanks Myra.
