Guess where I spent my weekend? We decided to have an adventure this past weekend and it was fantastic. Now we are both recovering from the fun and it will take some time to get back into the groove. There are clues in this photo as to where we ended up. And once I get caught up I will share more photos from our adventure.

Do I see the Eifel tower in the back?
You sure do!
So you were in Paris!
As someone who gets scared of heights, I second the expression on the horned gargoyle’s face!
Can’t wait to see more photos of your adventure. 🙂
It was high up and a little scary. I’ll do my best to share more.
You went to Paris, you lucky fish! And up to the Notre Dame’s view point! Not fair… 😉 No wonder you disappeared from the radar – I would too! 🙂
I don’t bring my laptop when I travel and we were too busy having fun to check in with the world. Notre Dame was fantastic!
Is that the Eiffel tower I see in the background?!?! Did you go to Paris and not take me? I wondered where you had disappeared to. I can’t wait to hear all the exciting details!! And by the way, I love the composition of this shot :).
What? You didn’t get the email? You were supposed to meet us at the Towers of Notre Dame!
I got engaged for the first time in Paris – great city, wrong guy! Have vowed to return with my husband to clear a few demons from the city!
I hope you do!!!
yeah, me too. I was fascinated with their underground – how some of the stations just seemed so eerie! There was one done up like a creepier, dark version of the mummy room at the British Museum when we were there – very atmospheric!
Ummmm…an alternate fantasy reality reached by an unseen portal located on the top of that building between the two gargoyles?
Unseen portal…I love that!
Sorry, in a Neverwhere mood, I guess!
Am guessing thats not blackpool tower in the background lol
The top of Notre Dame in Paris?
Yep!
Thought I recognised the gargoyle 🙂
Please tell me that you were at the Diamond Jubilee…….please. This picture tells me nothing! I am clueless. 🙂 Wondered where you were, though!!! Fill us in. Your loyal subjects are waiting breathlessly!!!
Oh wait—I enlarged the picture and NOW I know where you were!!! I didn’t look closely enough!!! What fun—can’t wait to hear and see more!
🙂 It was a fun trip…so much to see, so little time.
Well, is that the eiffel tower in the distance?
It sure is!
Fantastic! Hope you indulged in some great pastries.
You have to when you are there. It’s the law! Or should be at least 🙂
Oh, I am green with envy! I have fond memories of climbing all those stairs up to the gargoyles on Notre Dame. Good for you–those weekend jaunts are the best.
It was some climb. The narrow stairs and if felt like they just kept going and going. I wish I could do it again today.
ah!! you went to Paris 🙂
Yes we did…and I loved it!
Ah ha … you got out of town during the Jubilee! Nice pic with the item in the distance that I know is not Kings Island amusement park.
Unfortunately the trip coincided with the Jubilee. Bad planning. I blame the French Open.
Did you wind up in the bell tower of Notre Dame? 😉
Yes…and the staircase is winding.
Did you celebrate the Queen and ended up in Paris?
You can say that.
Oh, I’m so excited for you!! Did you love it? I’ve always wanted to go, but everyone I know who has gone has hated it and try to discourage me!!! I think they must just be wierdos. Can’t wait to see more.
You need to go…and it is a wonderful city for someone who is in love. This is the place for you two!
I love gargoyles. They are so beautiful, so cool. Your pictures are wonderful.
Thanks! Gargoyles are fascinating and I loved seeing them up close.
Paris 🙂
correct!
I’d venture a guess and say you went to Paris. Looks like the Eiffel Tower is way in the background. I hope, I’m correct because otherwise I’ll just look silly!!! 🙂
You are right…no reason to worry!
Very Hunchback of Notre Dame-esque pic!
You nailed it Hook!
Amazing photo! Can’t wait to hear more about you weekend 😀
Thanks…I hope to share soon once I get caught up with work and sleep. I’m always more exhausted when I come home from a trip.
That’s an awesome shot – I love the angle and perspective!
Thanks…they have protective wires all around so it is hard to get the camera through to take photos. I kept thinking I would drop my camera and hurt someone down below. I’m glad it all worked out.
awesome!!!
Thanks Stephen.
I never understood why do they have these scary beings (like the one on the right hand side) on the top of the church…if you have any clue..
That is a good question and I would have to do more research to answer the question. This tour was self-guided so I wasn’t able to ask anyone. I know that gargoyles are designed to drain rainwater. I’ll have to look into them and Chimeras, which are depictions of monsters or mythical beings.
ok. I will check it out as well. Thanks 🙂
I really like that picture. The little critter looking over the corner makes me think of Disney’s Hunchback with the talking gargoyles.
Brilliant
Lynn 😀
I don’t think I’ve seen the Disney movie. I should check it out now.
hee, hee…I know exactly where you went and from where you are taking the photo! Awesome place. Glad you had a good time away.
Paris is such an amazing town…can’t wait to go back and explore some more.
Looks like Pareeeeeee
You got it Robert.
I love this photo…
Thanks!
Ooh la la!
Oui Oui
Aaaahhh… we never went up!!! I can’t remember why not?? but I sure wish me&my mom made our way there!!! The views are great!! It looked like you had some great weather judging by the fact that the Eiffel is visible in the background!! 🙂 **
Well the line was really long…that might have discouraged you. The weather was better the first day. It got pretty chilly and windy. It was quite windy at the top.
awesome gargoyles, they are marvelous!
Love it! I spent my junior year abroad in Paris! My favorite city!
Paris, the city of light (and magic).
