Earlier in the day I did my best to get a photo of the Brandenburger Tor, in Berlin, without too many people. I failed. It was a warm and sunny day. Tourists abounded. Later that evening, it was pouring out and I was more successful. The image didn’t turn out as well as I wanted and there are people in it, but I still call it a success. By the time I got back to my hotel, I was soaked. It was worth it. And fortunately the camera dried out.

I didn’t get the photo in my reader so I was expecting a granite topped hill when I saw the word Tor! Nice photo 🙂
Thanks Gilly
I actually like the people in the photo – it gives it a sense of scale.
That’s a good way of looking at it. Thanks Lindy.
Love the Brandenburger Tor… it’ll always have a bit of a special meaning for me. I was on the East German side three weeks before the wall fell and was not able to walk through. The first time I did was pretty special. 🙂
That must have been such a fantastic moment. Thanks for sharing 🙂
well people or no people you did amazing with this one
Thanks Jo!
I am german and I hope you had a lot of fun in germany 🙂 I am from north germany baltic coast and I indeed travel to berlin time by time as well. I never had a chance to take a photo of the Brandenburger Tor too. Everyday to many people there even at night. Theirfor I do think your photo is already a pretty great result.
Thanks Dennis. I’ve haven’t been to the northern part of Germany, but I hope to.
Amazing shot! A unique shot of the Tor compared to the others I’ve seen.
Thanks. I really enjoyed seeing it…so much history and you can sense it when you stand there.
I really like the night shot. It gives it such atmosphere, and I love the reflections from the wet surfaces. Nice job!
This place has so much history and I really wanted to see it at night.
You got a great shot, and I think the couple walking adds interest to the photo. Glad the rain didn’t mess up your camera!
Thanks. I was little worried about the camera, but it was fine the next morning.
Wow… love that image… so wish I was there.
I wish I was back there 🙂
Lovely shot. Different to see it at night, with so few people around.
It gave it an eerie feeling.
Given the rain, night, lack of people, and the structure itself … great catch!
Thanks Frank. And I’d just come from a pub. That probably didn’t help. I will say that German beer is quite tasty!
That’s a great night shot! I usually need a tripod to get a decent night shot. Sometimes I like people in the photos for perspective.
I haven’t broken down yet and purchased a tripod. I’m too lazy to carry one. And on most trips, we try to pack light.
Neat shot! I am pathetic at night shots!
I find them really tricky. When one works out I jump for joy. Thanks.
Very cool. I like nighttime shots of buildings. I hope to visit Germany sometime in the near future.
I hope you do! It’s a lovely place. I would like to go back and see more.
I have a friend from Germany who went to high school with me, and he invited me to go there and stay at his house. Can’t wait to visit Europe in general!
Oh I have a photo here too! Very nice. 🙂
That’s awesome. Is it on your blog?
