Travel Photo of the Day (August 21)

While reading a book by the pool in Honduras I heard a noise behind me. I turned around and saw this creature. He seemed really curious about me. It took a few days, but I started to get used to see different creatures without screaming. My heart would still stop and then I’d think, “Thank goodness it wasn’t a snake.” I saw a snake on my last day, but it was my last day. I was able to get over it quickly when I boarded the plane.

I’ve never been a fan of snakes. I lived in one house in Colorado that was plagued with them. Once when I was in the bathroom I was washing my face and I had my eyes closed. And I felt one slither over my feet. I jumped onto the toilet and didn’t get down until my friend came over, who incidentally studied snakes and rescued them from people’s homes. She’s like Mike. She picked it up and gave it a kiss.

I am not comfortable with snakes either, so I can imagine your feelings. 🙂 This little fellow looks harmless. Was he?

  8. Novroz says:

ow my…he is so handsome. I want one, but I guess it’s not okay taking a wild animal home.

    • TBM says:

I always say I want to take cute critters home, but I know they are happier in their habitat. But he is cute!

      • Novroz says:

I often have that urge to take them home too…but then I realize, they aren’t meant to be pet.

I know my turtles also not meant to be a pet…but I bought them in petshop, they better be with me than in the petshop which often neglect them.

      • TBM says:

I understand. Your turtles have a much better life with you!
