I brought a book to read when I was in New York last week. This news may not shock many of you, since I’m an avid reader. However, I didn’t even crack it open. There’s just too much to look at and to take in. I spent more time looking around and people watching during my week there. And I saw one fight, not a fist fight, but an entertaining screaming match. I didn’t take a photo of the fight out of fear of having the camera shoved down my throat.

A week is not enough to visit a city like New York, a city where there is hardly any time to get bored.
I know. We’ve been lucky, and we go to NY once a year for the tennis and to take in some sights. This year, we were lazy so we didn’t sight see as much. I could live in NY. You’re right, you can’t get bored there.
Do they get payed for a screaming fight/match?
That I don’t know. I have a feeling if it gets out of hand, the cops may come, but I don’t know how quickly they can arrive. Oddly enough, there was a fight outside of my flat last night. Two drivers got out of their cars to yell at each other. I missed what happened, but when I stuck my head out the window to investigate, I heard one of the drivers tell a woman, “Don’t worry love, no need to call the cops.” Then he got in his car and drove off.
Oh no, someone has got problems! ๐
I’m glad I’ve only been a spectator. Let’s hope it stays that way ๐
I can officially say I’ve been there.
That’s a cool feeling isn’t it!
Gee, I thought you would have been more brave than that!! LOL. Just kidding – I wouldn’t have had the guts to do it either :).
Remember, I’m the one who gets pushed out of the way and never pushes back. And the better half gave me the “Don’t you dare!” look.
Oh ya, I forgot that!! Ooooh, you got the “Don’t you dare!” look? You don’t want to mess around when you get that look. That’s just asking for trouble! You know, this has reminded me of a really funny story. Years ago, before kids, Mike and I went to the Dominican Republic, and there was a topless beach. Well, my husband was quite enthralled by this and wanted evidence to show the guys at work. However, he didn’t want to be caught taking pictures, so he made me do it!!!! Can you believe that? I must have been very fortified with alcohol that day :).
yeah, I don’t mess with the Don’t you dare look. The better half knows I’m not a fighter and would have to be rescued. Were you obvious that you took photos? I don’t know if I could do that. Were you “dressed” for the occasion as well? How many tequila shots did you do?
Actually, it was usually beer or a fancy rum drink while I was there, and no I kept all my clothes on!!! As for whether they noticed, I think I did a very fine job of secretly snapping the photos. Mike was ecstatic!! LOL
Rum drinks are good, but can be dangerous. Next time I’m in a tricky situation, I’ll ask for your help to get photos. I’m not as brave, even when tipsy. Maybe when we take photos together you can teach me how not to be noticed ๐
Yes, those rum drinks are very dangerous for me, especially when I thought they were making them with regular rum and soon found out that they were making the with the 151 proof (75%) rum that they make down there. And it’s a deal – when we are taking photos together I will teach you how not to be noticed :)!!
I think that was wise not to take a shot of the fight
It was so hard to resist, but I was amused by the whole situation. I don’t have it in me to pick a fight with a complete stranger, and I could never back up my threats and I’m way too lazy to run for my life. Not to mention, my trick knee that gives out when I really need it.
Wow. What a picture … plenty of things to see. ๐
And lots of people watching. If people watching was a sport, I would go pro.
Busy, colourful photo. Looks like NY is buzzing. ๐
It was buzzing and it was hot out!
Cool shot!!! I really like it. Those huge posters were a total eye catcher
They caught my eye for sure ๐
Ah, yes…the musicals! That’s one of the many things I enjoyed there.
Great urban shot!
Thanks! I’ve been a fan of musicals since I was a kid. I still get that giddy feeling when I attend one.
My bet? They would have stopped to pose for you and then got back into it….
That would be pretty funny if they did. I love the feel of New York and the people. I always have a great time.
Yep, definitely shouldn’t take that picture! Wise choice methinks.

I’m just not bold enough. Even when I snap photos of people who aren’t fighting, I do it fast and hope I’m not noticed.
How much life can one city squeeze in? I love it.
It does pack it in.
