Travel Photo of the Day (January 28)

I fully admit that I'm a nerd and I love stumbling upon tourists traps like these. Have a pint in the Sherlock Holmes pub made my day.

About TBM

TB Markinson is an American who's recently returned to the US after a seven-year stint in the UK and Ireland. When she isn't writing, she's traveling the world, watching sports on the telly, visiting pubs in New England, or reading. Not necessarily in that order. Her novels have hit Amazon bestseller lists for lesbian fiction and lesbian romance. She cohosts the Lesbians Who Write Podcast (lesbianswhowrite.com) with Clare Lydon. TB also runs I Heart Lesfic (iheartlesfic.com), a place for authors and fans of lesfic to come together to celebrate lesbian fiction.

Did they have Sherlock Holmes’ bar food? You know, food of that time frame, such as unidentified grey meat boiled beyond recognition, served with potatoes. Or bangers and beans and eggs cooked on an iron skillet, with a touch of curry, of course.
And are their really, truly deep fried pickles? I would think they would explode upon being submerged in boiling oil….

    • TBM says:

I did eat in the restaurant and had bangers, mash, and a Yorkshire pudding. No grey meat fortunately. will need to find out more about the pickles 🙂

Love this! I am right with you there on the tourist traps. Your post inspired me to post a photo of the Godfather themed bar in Corleone in Sicily!

I love this as well. Who cares it’s a tourist trap. Sometimes we just like a bit of artifice.

    • TBM says:

Exactly. Life is too short not to enjoy it. I’ve even considered taking my Adventures of Sherlock Holmes there to read and have a pint or two–just to nerd it up more. Why not!

  16. Madhu says:

I would want to go there too 🙂 Look forward to the deatils when you do get return .

  20. This is was my Mom’s Favorite pub and we make sure to visit every time we are back. However, the last time we were in London there was an AMAZING little pub (tiny) that we totally fell in love with. Very local…never had food, just drink. But we loved it.

Always love traveling to the capital, only downside is that time goes so fast.

  22. Looks like the perfect spot for a pint … or two!

  23. Gotta show this one to my hubby. He loves all things Sherlock Holmes. What a great looking place. How fun! Paulette
