I’m pretty excited. We booked our hotel for our upcoming trip to New York City today. Every year we head to Flushing Meadows to watch tennis. I know our trip isn’t for many months but I can’t wait! This is an up and coming tennis player from Canada (born in Montenegro but he moved to Canada when he was a kid) that I’ve been keeping an eye on. His name is Milos Raonic. We saw him on one of the outer courts and it was great fun.

How exciting for you! I love having something to look forward to like this. Can’t wait for all your stories and pictures.
Yes, he bites his tongue and he really should be more careful! There’s an accident waiting to happen right there – and there’s no point running to me afterwards!!!
Lynn š
I didn’t notice it until I saw the picture. It does seem risky to stick his tongue out when hitting the ball–do they have band-aides for that?
Excellent photo!
Thanks Isobel
Milos is the pride of tennis fans in Canada, for sure! What fun to see his photo here!
I hope he’ll win a slam one day. He has the serve!
Wow! We’ll be on the same continent! How exciting to get to see a young player whose progress you’ve been following.
He has been fun to watch. I hope I can see him again this year
You’ll have great fun in NYC at the tennis match. It’s always fun. And NYC is the city that never sleeps. It’s true. Have fun planning out your trip.
Hooray for you! I usually get to the US Open at least once during the run. Last year I was lucky enough to go twice – to the qualifying and to the early rounds. Did you know that the qualifying rounds are free admission?
Also there is a new beer garden overlooking court 17 – I think. Wish I had gotten there early enough to get a seat. š
I’m trying to think where court 17 is. Are you talking about the beer garden that used to be the Red Star cafe?
Yes, I think that’s right. They were constructing it last year. It’s elevated about 2 stories high. I didn’t think they were ever going to finish in time, but they did. It’s air conditioned and has screens to watch the other matches. Kind of fun.
I was there and appreciated it on the hot days. We were wondering if there would be more changes this year. Are they knocking down Armstrong?
Yes, I think they’re still planning to knock down Armstrong and rebuild it in the next decade or so. They are also going to build a covered grandstand at the practice courts which will be fun. I hope Nadal makes it to the Open this year.
I hope he’s there as well so I can wear my go RAFA shirt! I never used to be a fan of his until I saw him play live. It’ll be sad to see Armstrong go, but I can’t wait to see the final product.
Oh that’ll be fun!
Nice shot!
Hope you’ll enjoy the matches š
Oh, you’ll have a great time!
Great photo! You will have a lot of fun š
Wouldn’t it be funny if he was actually chasing a bee?
Or a ref?
I’ve seen them swat at moths and such. And then there was the whole Serena and the lines judge.
enjoy. my daughter was able to go to the men’s finals of the Australian Open. Her guy lost but she enjoyed it. New York is a grand city too.
I would love to go to the Australian Open at some point. So far we’ve done the US and French.
How very exciting! That sounds like a fantastic trip for you!
