A few weeks ago we ventured to the Hard Rock Cafe for the first time. Beforehand though, we popped into the Back Room Bar, located at 148b Old Park Lane, Mayfair. Not sure where that street is, it’s just around the corner from the Hard Rock. The first time I visited this place I didn’t know it was part of the Hard Rock Cafe. Not sure how I missed that considering the ceiling.
This place is located near Hyde Park. On occasion when we are out exploring we’ve found this is an excellent place to stop for a drink or two to warm up on a cold winter day. And in the summer, what’s more refreshing than a beer? Okay, I don’t really need an excuse to go.
One of the things we really like is that they usually have a football game on the telly.
A few weeks ago we asked them to put a rugby match on and the bartender obliged. That’s the second aspect that I love about this place. The staff is always super friendly. The Back Room serves pizzas and we hear they are tasty, however, we have not sampled them ourselves. Now that I’m thinking of that, another visit is in order to try one. Surprisingly, the prices on the menu aren’t that expensive considering the neighborhood.
If you don’t want to watch football don’t fret, there’s plenty to take in. The walls are adorned with posters and music memorabilia.
And if you forgot a book to read, head to the loo. There’s plenty of writing on the walls to keep you entertained.
We’ve only visited this place during the day. Now I’m wondering what the atmosphere is like at night on a Friday or Saturday. Yup, more research is needed. If you are in the neighborhood and want to relax for a bit from sightseeing I highly recommend this little gem. I give it 4.5 stars our of 5.
been to a Hard Rock Cafe in TO but never one so exotic as this
Come on over!
next plane I will be there — save me a beer
okie dokie!
Have never heard of this bar, looks like fun!
I’ve had some good times there.
I like the toilet doors. 😉 And I love that they show football. Also, I like the ceilings ad the various posters. Damn, I wish I was in London. (This is in London, right?)
Yep it sure is. Right in the heart of London.
Yeah.
WOW! The decoration is amazing… Thank you, dear TBM, have a nice weekend, love, nia
You too Nia!
4.5 … wow … in that land of pubs, this must be a real gem!
It’s one of our faves.
Wow–this place looks amazing!! The bathroom doors alone would be worth the trip! 🙂
You’ll get a few chuckles.
Bags me the chaise longue and you can have the footie! I’ll look out for it next time I’m down that way.
that’s a deal. I hope you can make it.
Looks like a fun place.
It is, not the best pub for reading a book, but has a great atmosphere.
That is a great old fainting sofa!
It is, isn’t it. I love places with character.
This place is so gorgeous! Wish I could be there to take pictures!
A camera is a must there.
Really great pics – having trouble though in imagining – you, in a bar!…..
Lol
Lynn 😀
I know, so unusual for me.
Good luck with the research!
Thanks, someone has to do it.
I did not know about that bar, and I’ve been to that Hard Rock also. I’ll have to remember that if I return, especially if you give it a 4.5.
I think it’s only been around for a few years. It used to be the souvenir shop I heard.
