Happy Monday! Sorry I’m chipper on a Monday, but we had a marvelous weekend and I’m in a fantastic mood. I wonder how long it will last. On Saturday we explored Shepherd’s Bush, a neighborhood in west London. It was a sunny day and throngs of people were out an about. And the good news, we found two pubs we haven’t been to before.
Sunday was a wonderful and relaxing day. We took Miles to Holland Park to play ball and to explore the rose garden. Later in the day we went for a stroll through Brompton cemetery. Again the weather was lovely and people enjoyed being outside.

I hope all of you had wonderful weekends.

Awww, Miles looks so happy – just like a little puppy romping on the grass :). I’m glad you had such a wonderful weekend. Mine has been fantastic too, and today is Canada’s birthday, so we are still at my parents in Kingston. As you know, Friday was a very successful shopping day for me, and then yesterday we spent the day at my brother’s new house which I hadn’t been to see yet, and they had a really nice lunch for us with an icecream cake for dessert for my birthday (it had chocolate in the middle and little chocolates all over the top YAYYYY). My brother also let me look through a book of birdhouse patterns and pick one for him to make for me, so that there will be lots of birds for me to photograph! Then we went to the casino which turned out to be an awesome choice because Mike and I kept winning all night. Between the two of us, we came out about $1,000 ahead. Wahooooo!!!!! Even my mom (who only makes teeny tiny bets) won $137. We also had dinner at the casino, and they have fantastic food there. Everyone is still asleep this morning, but when they wake up I’m sure we’ll find something fun to do today too (fireworks tonight maybe). Enjoy your Monday TBM :).
That does sound like a wonderful birthday weekend. Ice cream cake and gambling winnings. Put your winnings aside so you can add Barcelona to your trip next summer 🙂 I would love to have a bird house outside of our place, but the Better Half thinks that would be mean since Att would stalk it. Att killed one bird and it broke my heart. I never thought he had it in him since he only spends time on our deck, but I guess that instinct works even with house cats. To make matter worse, he left the bird on my pillow as a gift.
You know, instinct in animals has always fascinated me, but leaving the bird on your pillow – that’s just nasty!! LOL
I remember hearing they like to leave gifts for those they love. I guess I should be flattered. Most of the time I think he’s plotting my death. His stare is intense.
LOL!!!!! That’s too funny. Maybe you should write your next novel about the cat that plotted his owner’s death. Now that could be a bestseller!
What! And give him ideas! Miles and I would have to go into protective custody.
You see, the protective custody bit would just add to the suspense of the plot! It would be awesome :).
I think you’re on Att’s side. Are you the evil sidekick?
Oooh, I could be a character in your book :). The evil sidekick – I love it!!
What would you like your name to be?
Hmmm, I’ll have to think about that one :).
Remember, Ian Fleming already used Pussy Galore, so that’s out.
LMAO!!!! After reading that, all I keep thinking of now is what name Mikey would come up with for me. Better not say on here :).
Well now I really want to know. Don’t be afraid to email me 😉
Ok, Mikey is out fishing right now (my parents live right on the water, the lucky buggers) so I will get him to think up a name when he gets back :).
Good. Tell him to be honest and brutal.
How nice that you’re having lovely summer weather, TBM. Looks like Miles had a ball. 😀
Miles loves going to the park to chase a ball. The past two weekends have been delightful and all of us want to be outside to enjoy.
Two new pubs? Wow … Does that mean you only have less than 10 to go? 😉 Looks like a wonderful weekend. Gotta love the sights and the fact that you remembered the ball for Miles.
He didn’t complain about leaving red ball behind. We can chuck a tennis ball much further and Miles loves to chase it. Sometimes I think I would like to know how many pubs there are in London, but probably best I don’t.
Miles looks zonked from having a happy weekend! We had a great weekend too. Birthday BBQ!
Birthday BBQ–that’s wonderful. Happy Birthday!
No Birthday for me till September.. 🙂 It was my Mom-in-Laws 84th. I will pass your kind birthday greeting on to her.. 🙂
84! That’s wonderful. glad all of you had a wonderful time.
Everything changes with the weather, doesn’t it, TBM? I love the roses. They’re just coming into their own. It was my mum’s favourite flower and she had some beauties in her back garden. 🙂
There is something so special about roses.
Yay – I’m happy that you’re happy and I’m just generally happy too! Lovely shots and I especially like that one of Miles flaked out on his cushion 🙂
Miles plays hard, but he also knows how to completely relax. I’m always amazed how such a little dog can take up so much room. And he snores!
There is no reason to apologize for being in a good mood, even on a Monday. And there is no reason to wonder how long it will last, I say nurture that feeling and enjoy it. 🙂 So happy you had a good weekend and have such lovely pictures to show for it.
I’m happy too, we had an unexpected gift of Spring-like weather to end our June and start our July and it is predicted to last all week long. Highs in the 80’s, lows in the 60’s. When I got out to run this morning it almost felt like an autumn day. Wonderful!
That’s wonderful about the weather. Now that I don’t live in Boston anymore I’m shocked I was able to live with such humidity and I only imagine it’s worse in your area. Autumn-like weather sounds marvelous to me. I skipped my run this am to get a little extra sleep and then took Miles for a long walk in Holland. A perfect start on a Monday. And I’m looking forward to my run this evening since I didn’t go this am. Helps erase the stress from the day. I hope your nice weather continues for a least a few more days. I know I’m early, but happy 4th of July! Enjoy the bbqs and fireworks for me.
seeing new places is always fun 🙂 . i love the rose garden and that big metal frame sculpture and are those gravestones?
I think the sculpture is a toy in the park–at least I saw kids swinging on it. And we walk through Brompton Cemetery several times a week. It’s a lovely area. Dogs are only allowed on the side where they no longer hold burials. On the other side, there’s still room.
Love your tour of Shepherds Bush. The houses look like some parts of Pittsburgh, without the many chimney’s on them.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
I need to add Pittsburgh to my list 🙂
You should come for a visit. A few days ago Pittsburgh was named America’s smartest city. http://www.wpgb.com/pages/Program_Directors_Blog.html?article=11428768
We also have great pubs. 🙂
Here is another site. http://wesa.fm/post/pittsburgh-named-americas-smartest-city
Congrats on the smart city award. Will they let a dunce like me in? And did you say pubs…you have pubs. Let me check the airfare 🙂
Fabulous pictures TBM glad you had a ball .. oops or was Miles 😉
Really.. looks like a fun week end . A bit of sun and leisure time sets up everyone for a good start to the week 🙂
It’s important to re-energize the batteries and soul. That’s my story, and I’m sticking to it 🙂
Great pics. The weather looks lovely. 🙂
It was marvelous weather this weekend. Warm but not too hot. A little cooler today, but I don’t mind since it’s a work day. Hope camp is going well!
So glad you had a great weekend. I did too *punches air*! It makes the start of the week so much nicer!
Lynn 😀
And, I know I’m freaky but lovely graveyard pic! Plus Miles on a cushion 😀
It is odd that I’m completely used to waking through a graveyard each afternoon. When we first moved here and everyone said that’s where they walk there dog my reaction was, “Really!”
seems you and your family were busy having fun this weekend.. dog too.. 🙂 take care.
Miles doesn’t like being left behind.
what a great collection of photos. That cubic thingy looks great.
Btw, I have checked Shaun, and the pub is called manchester. Not sure if the name is real pub or a made up
I looked on Wikipedia and saw this: The scenes filmed in and around “The Winchester Pub” were shot at The Duke of Albany in Monson Road New Cross, a three-storey Victorian pub popular with supporters of Millwall F.C. which was converted into luxury flats in 2007.
Not sure if the pub was converted into flats as well. Will have to do more research for you.
Ups…I was thinking of Winchester and ended up typing Manchester…silly me 😉
It’s too bad if they also converted the pub because Shaun is a very famous movie.
…and since you like visiting pub, make sure you watch the last of the trilogy (Shaun, Hot Fuzz and then At The World’s End – no correlation in each movie) At the world’s end is about pub 🙂
When I can, I’ll check it out and see if the pub still exists on the bottom level. I’m intrigued, there’s no correlation in the trilogy?
Nope! Funny trilogy with no correlation. I have written it before and you have read it too. Here’s to jog your memory http://bokunosekai.wordpress.com/2012/08/07/waiting-for-the-blood-and-ice-cream-trilogy/
And here’s the trailer for the latest one> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n__1Y-N5tQk
I haven’t found the release date yet.
I do remember reading your post. You know, that’s pretty creative to have a trilogy with no connection. I’ll keep an eye out for them and of course the pub!
That is a “fun day, Monday.” So much places to go and so many adventures along the way. The pub drinks looks like a refreshing treat in between. Wonderful pictures!
I love that you can head out in one direction and not have to plan too much–London has so many wonderful places to see.
Great photos, and so glad to read you had a fabulous weekend! Two pubs! Wow – you hit the jackpot! Thanks for taking us on your tour.
I’m glad you enjoyed 🙂
Looks like Miles is enjoying the nice weather–good for him!
Nothing like English roses, honestly….
All of the flowers in Holland park are beautiful, but I’m a sucker for the roses.
Beautiful pictures, TBM! Loved the pictures of the roses and Miles playing with the ball. I think this is the first time I am seeing Miles’ picture – he looks like a bundle of joy. Looking forward to seeing your cat’s picture sometime. Hope you are having a wonderful start to a new week.
The title of your post ‘Happy on a Monday’ made me smile 🙂 Have you heard the song by ‘The Bangles’ ‘Manic Monday’? 🙂
Manic Monday was a big hit when I was a kid and I used to love the Bangles!
I’ve been trying to get a recent picture of Att for you, but each time he’s either sleeping or he walks right up to the camera and all you see is black fuzz. But I am still trying. And Miles is a bundle of joy and energy. We just got back from the park playing fetch and he’s still not tired. I am, he isn’t.
looks like Miles had a great weekend as well. he seems jubilant
Miles is so easy going he usually has fun.
