Now that I’m settled into the new flat (mostly), I think it’s time to return to the pub reviews! My last pub review was The Green, located in Shepherd’s Bush. And today’s featured pub is also from Shepherd’s Bush. The Adelaide is a quaint pub and according to their website, it was refurbished in 2008. I hadn’t been to it before 2008 so I can only assume it looks better. I liked that it was clean. So many pubs can be a bit untidy and that puts me off. I’m not a neat freak, but I don’t like scraps of food on the tables. That grosses me out.
If my memory serves me correctly, I visited this pub on a warm summer day during Wimbledon. Some of you may question how I can remember this. I snapped this photo during my visit.
We settled down at a table for a pint and shared a grilled vegetable, hummus, and feta sandwich. Wimbledon was on the telly and there were a few patrons watching it with us. The atmosphere was completely laid back. The bartenders were quiet, but friendly. There wasn’t a lot of chit chat occurring around us and I think this would be a good pub to go to during the day if you wanted to read or get some work done. I wonder if it’s that relaxed at night. Depending on my mood, that could be good or bad. But during the day, I prefer quiet afternoons in a pub.
Over all, this pub is decent. There’s not much to rave about and there’s not much to criticize. If you are in the area, go ahead and pop in for a pint. However, this is not a pub to go out of your way for. I give it three stars.
Now I’m off to visit more pubs!
Reblogged this on hadassaab.
Thanks!
Yes, it is your duty to keep us informed right? The beer is secondary LOL!! Have a great weekend :).
Well, sometimes I have cider. Or gin and tonic. Mulled wine season is almost here. So it isn’t just about the beer 🙂 Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks 🙂
I love the looks of it! Appeals to my sense of coziness.
Yes! Cozy is a good word for it.
Hmmm….mulled wine might have to be something that I consider. I have never had it but it sounds better than beer to me. Nice review, TBM. 🙂
Mulled wine is perfect for a rainy day and guess what, it’s raining today.
Haha!! Now that is a big surprise, huh? It never rains there, right?
It doesn’t rain as much as I thought it would. But there are weeks when it rains quite a bit. Supposed to rain all weekend. We have a movie marathon planned. I’m looking forward to it.
I just read Jackie Cangro’s blog about her find of the movie Rhinestone with Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stallone. Maybe you should add that to your queue!!!
Not sure I’ve heard of that one. will look into it!
SHe teaches him to sing!!!! Has to be entertaining.
Stallone? Singing. Oh this I have to see.
Apart from anything else it’s got a ‘ I’ll bagsy and no I won’t move ’til I’ve read the paper sort of chair’ ..That’s a Thumbs up TBM :-
Have great weekend .
Those chairs can be dangerous for me, since I don’t want to move at all. Should start to carry more than one book.
all of the different lampshades…quite unique!
I like that touch. Lots to take in while sipping a pint.
fun!
Pubs need to be on the corner like this one! Bottoms up … Cheers!
Yes, much better than having a gas station on a corner. Of course, I don’t own a car anymore so I have no need for them.
🙂
Nice review, TBM! Love that picture of Bjorn and Mac 🙂 Their rivalry was the greatest.
They played a lot of great matches.
And so the search for the perfect pub continues. We all must thank you for your tireless efforts!
Heehee
Lynn 😀
I’m committed!
Still sound like a good place to stop… hard life you live…
Someone has to do it.
Those big comfy leather chairs look great to me!
They are dangerous for me.
I love the leather sofa and chairs.
Me too!
The sandwich looks delicious 🙂
It takes longer time for you to settle down than me 😉
How is the new place?
Check out the latest posts on http://kamekroten.wordpress.com 😉
Will do!
Borg and McEnroe! I miss those days.
Love the sofa and wing chairs.
They were great players. Now I enjoy listening to Mac’s commentary–I never know what he’s going to say.
If I happen to find myself in Shepherd’s Bush, I would visit this pub for that sandwich, the space, and the quietness!
Keep it in mind! And if you forget the name, send me an email.
I will. thank you!
Nice to see a pub review! That sandwich looks yummy – I do like hummus and feta cheese!
It’s a good combination.
