My buddy at Lady of the Cakes has a feature on her blog called street snaps. It’s pretty simple: take photos of people when you’re out and about and link it to her weekly post. I said I would try to participate when I felt safe enough to snap a photo without getting punched in the nose. A few weeks ago I exited the Wimbledon Tube stop and saw this gentleman. Not sure how to describe his outfit. What caption would you give it? Don’t forget to look at the shoes and socks.

This is amazing…. Thanks and Love, nia
He made me smile, Nia.
OMG, is he half leprechaun???
It’s the shoes and the socks… the top half I can cope with. I like men in pink tops 😉
yeah, the top half is okay. He looks athletic and comfortable. The socks and shoes–I’m not following. I like pink on guys too.
The shirt reminded me of the street snaps LOTC did where everyone was wearing something pink. This guy would have fit right in. 🙂
Maybe he’s a fan of LOTC and wanted to be included.
Oh dear. Ooooooh dear….. Well, we gotta give him points for fearlessness?
Very true! I may wear that in the home, but not outside.
free spirit I would say…and comfortable in who he is…
and got your attention…maybe that’s it!
Not just my attention. A lot of people turned to get a better look. And one man knew I was taking a photo without trying to be noticed. He gave me the I Know What You’re Doing smile, but didn’t bust me.
so funny!
elf in disguise
The holidays are coming.
he best get back up north
And make my toys … and a cup of hot chocolate or mulled wine. I’m not too picky as long as it’s warm and tasty.
hot chocolate with marshmallows
sounds good.
Lol. If he knew . . .
Oh I hope he doesn’t see it. Or his friends or family. He’ll never hear the end of it.
I love his shoes! 😉
They remind me of something I learned in my History of Fashion studies…
QUOTE: ” Edward III (1312–1377), who ruled England from 1327 to 1377, even made a law that limited shoe length based on social class: common people could only wear a six-inch toe, while gentlemen could wear a fifteen-inch toe, and nobility even longer. However, laws can seldom defeat a popular fashion fad, and the extremely long-toed crackowes remained in style until 1410. The shoes then became slightly more conservative, but long, pointed toes remained fashionable for wealthy young men into the 1480s.”
The whole article on fashionencyclopedia.com is available here: http://tinyurl.com/yd4qj7s
15-inch toes! I would trip over my feet every time I walked. Did they have people carry them so they didn’t look silly? Thanks for the information. I love it. I have noticed that men’s shoes in London are longer than in the States. Must be a holdover … or another statement 😉
Even so, LOL!
THere are High Elves and Wood Elves but who knew there were Football Elves?
A secret society, maybe?
Interesting photo, TBM! His shoes are definitely interesting 🙂
Perfect for when you wear shorts.
Agh, your face going through the net with people commenting on you.. This can be quite humiliating.. Maybe next time not get the face. Afterall it’s the outfit that gets all the attention! 🙂
Unfortunately he turned around when I snapped the photo and I didn’t have another opportunity.
Such a fun idea! “I said I would try to participate when I felt safe enough to snap a photo without getting punched in the nose” <– that gave me a laugh! I agree, there's so many things to take pictures of but sometimes it's just hard to read the situation and tell if it's ok to take a picture or not. I'd like to improve myself in this field as the Netherlands has so many funny people to photograph!
Good luck. I know it can be intimidating and I also have the better half who keeps informing me that people can see me taking a photo. Makes me a nervous.
Well, at least you are brave enough to get the picture. Other people will be wishing they had taken one!
That’s true!
Great catch! It’s as if he’s wearing two different looks.
Yes! That’s a good way of putting it.
Speechless. 😀
I understand.
You could send it to her series “pink everywhere” 🙂
Incredible…He is handsome, but there is something strange about his shoes and that pink sweeter…(…)
At least he’s original. I have to give him credit. And I agree, he’s handsome.
“My mommy wanted to dress me today, but I insisted on picking out my own outfit. I think it’s fabulous, don’t you?”
I would never discourage a young person from chasing their dreams of fashion design. Look at Lady Gaga–it works for her.
Very true 🙂
You should get yourself one of those nifty James Bond cameras that fit inside the head of a pen or something like that. Then no one will see you taking a photo.
Yes! I should. And one of his cool cars for the getaway.
I’m thinking not all his luggage arrived. However, my first thought was, we know Santa goes to a beach in the off-season–the elves must go to Wimbledon.
Maybe they work as ball kids in the off-season.
He looks nervous .
I wonder if he was meeting someone and realized he put the wrong shoes and socks on.
wondering if anyone will notice ….
I’m sure I’m the only one who noticed 😉
Looking smart but sporty, maybe he just got out the wrong side of the best this morning!
That’s possible!
Oh he’s fab! Kind of a reverse example of someone who wears a suit to work but swaps their heels for sports shoes to walk to and from the station…he swapped the suit for sports wear 🙂
Yes! That’s a good way of putting it.
Great moment!
🙂
I thought he looked pretty normal with the athletic dress until I got to the green socks and strange shoes! I have a hard time snapping people I don’t know, even in stores I usually ask permission.
it is odd snapping photos of people. Some tourists are so brazen here. I just pretended to make a phone call and snapped it. Not very honest 😉
Brave man! I enjoyed seeing anyone who is brave enough to look different in public
I agree! It takes guts to dress however you want and not care.
So weird, but what’s normal these days? 😀
Normal can be boring. At least he got my attention. Maybe that was his goal–to be noticed.
Pink top and green socks ..pixie and fairy combo?
That’s a good guess.
the outfit: Just.Can’t.
but I am dying to ask him where his Lucky Charms are. 😉
Seriously! How does one put that together?
Hmmm, interesting. I don’t know what to say. I’m usually not comfortable taking photos of people on the streets either. Maybe someday.
I try to be super quick and sly about it. I’m sure I’m noticed a lot more than I think.
this is what I love about street photography
Seriously. I love his outfit.
