I’ve tried going to this pub in Knightsbridge in the past but each time it was packed. The location of Tattersalls Tavern is probably the main reason—it’s near Harrods and Harvey Nichols. Last December, we were early meeting a friend near there, so I decided to try my luck. We walked in and there weren’t any tables available. However, we only had thirty minutes to kill so we decided to order a beer and stand at the bar.
Luckily a table for two opened. I whisked The Better Half right over and sat down. Then as luck would have it, two older women walked in and they were seeking a table. I guessed they were in their eighties. The Better Half and I exchanged a look and then we gave up our table.
Back at the bar I noticed that the women both ordered gin and tonics. I had to smile. I hope when I’m eighty I still go to the pub and enjoy a drink.
Our friend met us at the pub and we stayed for another drink. Even though this pub is packed every time I’ve been it isn’t overly special. The staff is typical for an English pub. My beer, Pilsner Urquell, was nice and cold. The atmosphere was festive. It’s a decent pub and if you go, good luck getting a seat. I give it three out of five stars.
I’m pretty excited today since two of our friends are visiting. We’re meeting up later today and I wonder what kind of trouble, er I mean fun, we’ll get into. Have a great weekend! I’ll be back on Monday or Tuesday. It all depends on how many pubs we discover.
