A Much Needed Day Out

Normally I post a pub review on Fridays, but many of you know I’ve been avoiding pubs so I can meet some work deadlines. That doesn’t mean I’ve been skipping all types of fun. I would go insane if I did. Earlier this week I shared some photos from our walk to Craven Cottage last Saturday. We watched Fulham v Newcastle. Fulham shocked us by winning. For those who don’t follow the English Premier League, Fulham is in last place. They need to win most if not all of their remaining matches to avoid relegation. We hope they do since their stadium isn’t too far from us and it’s a great place to watch a match. The Cottage is quite small and has a wonderful atmosphere. We’ve been three times and have enjoyed it each time. And to be able to be so close to the action—that’s just awesome. Here are some photos from last week’s match. Hopefully I’ll wrap up a major project soon and I can resume my pub reviews. Have a great weekend everyone. And watch out for flying balls. Don’t know what I’m talking about—see photo below.

Classic notice! I’m not a footie fan but I hope for your sakes at least Fulham aren’t relegated.

  2. I’m glad you got out for some fun in the middle of your deadlines. All work and no fun just sucks!! LOL

  3. Those flying balls – what a nuisance!

  4. I will stay aware–but even aware I have been known to get hit by flying balls–both metaphorical and literal

  5. That pitch looks excellent, but I fear Fulham are doomed – they should never have let Berbatov leave!

Makes me sad – I’ve got a Newcastle jersey, one of my best friends is from Tyneside. But looks like a beautiful day!

    • TBM says:

Hey now, at least Newcastle is safe for this year (at least I think they are). Do you have any visits planned? It’s been what two years since you went to Boston?

      • Geoff W says:

I don’t and it’s been almost five. I’m hoping 2015/16. Funny how life gets in the way of traveling.

      • TBM says:

Tell me about it! We’ve delayed quite a few trips recently and I understand why we had to do it, but it’s still annoying. Best of luck to you!

  7. As you know I’m now a City fan. It looks like *my* team is playing Fulham tomorrow. I’m sorry to have to root against Fulham, but it must be done. City is still 6 points out of first place.

    • TBM says:

Dude your team thumped Fulham! 5-0. Don’t worry, when Fulham plays Liverpool we cheer against them as well. We just want Fulham to stay in it so we can see other teams at a small stadium near us. Probably shouldn’t say that when we are actually at the Cottage.

at least you got to go out for a bit…hope it is warming up for you and for the fur babies

Ha, this looks like great fun….and thanks for the warning! I’ll remember to duck. 😉

    • TBM says:

One chap a few seats down from us headed the ball back onto the pitch. It was the best header of the match 😉 I was greatly relieved it didn’t get closer to me. It’s been a long long time since I had to head a soccer ball.

Looks like fun. I miss a good soccer match every now and then. Can’t wait for the World Cup this summer! 🙂

    • TBM says:

I grew up playing soccer (I think it’s a must if you live in Southern California) and I still enjoy the game as a spectator. Come on World Cup!

  11. Novroz says:

I assume you have got rid of the flu 😉

Glad to know you are enjoying your days now 🙂

  12. I love the flying balls warning! I’m glad you’re having some fun and still meeting your deadlines.
Have a great week, TBM 🙂

It’s good to get out and take breaks — especially with what looks like beautiful weather. We got another 2 blizzards this week: first day of Spring and a driveway to be shoveled. Ugh. I would love to see a real live Football game. Funny that they don’t warn about flying pucks at hockey games. It happens quite often.

  14. The Hook says:

Those balls will get you every time.. or so I’m told.

  15. Glad you’ve been able to sneak in some fun despite all your deadlines!

  16. pattisj says:

I’m glad you were able to take a break. I guess they’re serious about keeping an eye out!

  17. Haha! I love that sign. Is that like waving your right to sue? 😛

Looks like a good day and time away from the task at hand. Meanwhile, I try to get myself back into the swing, so thought I’d drop by to say hello!
