Wooohooo! A four day weekend!

Happy Friday! I know technically it isn’t Friday, but we have a four-day weekend starting tomorrow. Initially we wanted to go out of town for the Easter holiday and many of you offered suggestions of places we should go. However, life conspired against us and we’re staying in London, which isn’t a bad thing at all.

Last weekend we had a great sports weekend. On Sunday we made our way to the Walkabout near the Temple tube stop to watch some of the London marathon. This joint is a massive Australian bar that caters to sports. We sat inside and watched the progress of the race and then hopped outside to cheer on the runners. We had to take turns since we didn’t want to give up our table.

Then we stayed to watch the Liverpool v. Man City game. We’re Liverpool fans and currently Liverpool is at the top of the table. I was mighty nervous about the game last Sunday. Man City is a tough team to beat and lately they’ve been on fire. It was fun watching this match with a large group. When Liverpool scored the winning goal late in the second half everyone cheered.

I want to wish all of you who celebrate a Happy Easter. I won’t be on the computer much, if at all, over the next four days. See ya Tuesday!

We were across the river from you, enjoying a quiet lunch above the QEH, then going onto Parliament Sq to see my friend running towards the last stretch. Then we met him near the Cabinet War Rooms. It was a great day to be watching, a bit too wam for running. There’s a bluebell walk this evening in your neck of the woods.

    • TBM says:

I felt bad for the runners since it was warmer than normal. However, it was fab for us 😉 I missed the walk. We did a whole bunch of nothing this past weekend. It felt good. Congrats to your friend who ran.

  3. Ah, a four-day weekend is awesome! Have a happy Easter, my friend. And enjoy your time away from the blogosphere!

    Hugs from Ecuador,
    Kathy

Enjoy your weekend. I’m betting you find something interesting to do.

  5. Geoff W says:

It looks warmer there than here these days! We had a dusting and frost on the ground Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

    • TBM says:

And we only had one day of rain out of four. Not bad for here. April always seemed like the longest month for me when I lived in Boston. I just wanted it to be warm after all the snow and freezing walks to work.

4 day weekends rock!!! Hope yours turned out smashingly!!!

  7. Wahoooo!! You already know exactly how I feel about long weekends :). Have a good one my friend!

  8. I’m disappointed that City lost. Boo. I’m still hoping that they can pull it out in the end. It’s looking a bit grim though.
Anyway – hope you have a wonderful long weekend.

    • TBM says:

City has had a bit of tough luck. I think they won on Monday or at least they were winning when I went to bed. Liverpool squeaked through on Sunday. it wasn’t the prettiest win, but I’ll take it.

  9. Have a great weekend 🙂

  10. Jo Bryant says:

Long weekend is always much appreciated

  14. A four day weekend sounds great, but it’s business as usual at my Grind. I did notice when I came home from work this evening that there’s the annual Easter lily in my building’s vestibule, but it has yet to bloom. It’s been very chilly in the Big Apple in recent days. There was even a dusting of snow on Wednesday. If I were a lily, I wouldn’t be in the mood to bloom, either. I hope you visit more cool pubs on your hiatus.

Woot woot! 4 Days of …….. the kids home all day long! LOL
Nah, we’ve got lots of fun planned. Hopefully the weather will actually be like Spring and we can get out on our bikes and maybe take some walks. And of course, all the chocolate.
    Happy Easter!

Duuuuuuude a four-day weekend sounds awesome. And cheering on those racers was really cool of you and the better half. It definitely gives you a little pep when you here clapping and you’re like so exhausted and in need of Gatorade or an extra pair of legs. Very cool that you found a pub across the way too. 🙂 Beer, sports and an awesome company … sounds like your holiday was well spent 🙂

The first time I watched a marathon I didn’t know what to expect and I thought I’d get bored quickly. Oh boy was I wrong. It’s not something I look forward to each and every year and I’m so glad we can watch the London one now. We had a party for the Boston marathon for six years since we lived right on the route. Now we have to leave to find a place to watch, but I still get to partake. Such an inspiration!

  25. I may have navigated your blog rather badly, but are you currently reading House of Mirth? This is my favourite book! Hope you’re enjoying it – any other Whartons on your list?

    • TBM says:

I’m loving the book. This is the second of hers that I’ve read from the list. The other was Age of Innocence. She has three more: Ethan Frome, Summer, and Bunner Sisters (not sure if I got the titles right since I’m too lazy to double check).

  26. Anna says:

Looks like you had a good Easter even though you stayed in London. I am also stuck in my little apartment in the Netherlands with my thesis. Great pictures of the London Marathon! It would be exciting to be a part of this event one day. Also looking forward to watching FIFA 2014!

    • TBM says:

Good luck with your thesis. I remember those days. I’m excited about your upcoming trip! And yes, the world cup will be here soon.
